these quick tips your gymnast must know the mechanics of the turn,
including her arm, shoulder, and leg movements. She must know the timing
of the movements and the correct shapes for each part of the turn.
One
of the first concepts a gymnast should learn is body tightness. She
must learn to squeeze her buttocks, keep a straight shape, and she must
be tight in various shapes. Many of the shapes we first teach our
gymnasts involve tumbling and uneven bars. Do we teach them the shapes
necessary for turns?
As
you know, shapes cross over from skill to skill and event to event so
the first two will be useful for your gymnasts for many skills and years

important they are for turns.
